There are varying debates on what a "true" Siamese is, they can only be this color, or this style, they should have crossed eyed and kicked tails, or they should not. It all chocks up to personal preference.
What I can tell you is this. If the cat or kitten you are seeking is what you consider the cat you want, who is to tell you your cat is all wrong, or not what it should be?
Facts: Siamese were brought to Europe, the cats who were brought over were heavier boned and some did/not have crossed eyes and kinked tails. Do I think crossed eyes and kinked tails ruin the breed? Well aesthetically I think its more ideal to have a anatomically correct cat if you are showing or breeding, are these traits that I often see in my cats, absolutely not. Do these traits lesson the quality of life for the cat simply no.
The original Siamese that were imported were Seal points, that is correct. Today there are far more varieties in coat coloring which includes the dominant Seal Point, Chocolate Point, Blue Point and Lilac Point. There are also different patterns in coats as well as the typical sollid pointed cat. There are Lynx Points ( exotic snow tiger looking marked cats, who have tabby patterns at their points only) CFA does not recognize Lynx Points, as Siamese, they will try to classify them as either Colorpoints or Oriental Shorthair but almost all other major registries in the world do view Lynx points as Siamese !
There are also the red factor Siamese which is where Red Point also know as Flame Point, as well as Tortie ( which is a calico type of affect at the points), Torbie Point ( Mix of Lynx and Tortie type markings) comes in to play.
With all of these colors its hard to think of the variations there can be in markings, all of the above mentioned red factors can produce Torties with the basic four colors of Seal,Blue,Chocolate and Lilac, but with creme and or red mixed in the points.
